Magnetic Field Immunity Testing
Magnetic field immunity testing evaluates how electronic equipment responds to controlled magnetic disturbances while it operates. Stancer Testing-Lab provides power-frequency and pulsed magnetic-field evaluations for products used near power equipment, high-current conductors and other relevant sources.
We agree the required field, exposure conditions, equipment orientation and functions to monitor before testing. Results form part of a product-specific EMC testing program, with the applicable method, edition and accredited coverage reviewed against our ISO/IEC 17025 scope.
What Magnetic Field Testing Helps You Evaluate
Sensitive Functions
Observe sensors, measurement circuits, controls and other agreed functions during magnetic exposure.
Orientation and Configuration
Assess the representative assembly and required orientations, including its cables, accessories and operating modes.
Performance and Recovery
Document errors, temporary degradation, resets and recovery against the applicable product criteria.
Magnetic Field Methods and Laboratory Capabilities
Up to 1,000 A/m
Published sinusoidal setup capability. Available level, frequency, coil, test volume and exposure duration are confirmed for each project.Coil and Orientation
Sample dimensions and required orientations guide the coil selection and placement. Monitoring remains active during exposure.Select the Required Magnetic Disturbance
Power-frequency, pulsed and damped oscillatory magnetic fields are distinct test methods. The applicable product standard or customer specification determines which evaluation is required and how performance is assessed.| Method | Disturbance | Planning considerations |
|---|---|---|
| IEC/EN 61000-4-8 | Power-frequency magnetic field | 50 Hz and 60 Hz testing, with the required field strength, exposure duration and equipment orientations. |
| IEC/EN 61000-4-9 | Pulsed magnetic field | Specified impulse magnetic exposure, with the required waveform, level, polarity and test arrangement. |
| IEC/EN 61000-4-10 | Damped oscillatory magnetic field | A separate method for oscillatory magnetic disturbances. Confirm equipment availability, required parameters and accredited coverage before scheduling. |
Our Test Sequence
- Define. Agree the method, exposure level, sample dimensions, operating modes and acceptance criteria.
- Configure. Select the coil, generator, sample placement and functional monitoring.
- Verify. Establish the field conditions for the required test arrangement.
- Expose. Apply the specified field and orientations while monitoring the equipment.
- Report. Record the configuration, applied conditions, observed response and assessment.

Prepare Your Product for Testing
Provide the product function, dimensions, supply requirements, applicable standard and required magnetic-field levels. Identify sensitive measurements, sensors and controls, together with the operating modes and performance indicators to monitor. Bring representative cables, loads and accessories. Define any permitted temporary changes and required recovery. Use our client information sheet to prepare the details, including essential-performance monitoring for an applicable medical device EMC program.Related Tests and Scope
Magnetic-field immunity uses field strength expressed in A/m. Radiated RF immunity testing commonly specifies electric-field strength in V/m and evaluates a different disturbance. Passing one evaluation does not replace the other. The required field, duration and acceptance criteria come from the relevant product requirements. We confirm the supported edition, clauses and setup against the accreditation scope; not every listed equipment capability is an accredited condition under every standard.Magnetic Field Immunity FAQs
